How to freeze white cabbage for the winter

In fact, there are several waysfreezing cabbage. A wonderful winter preparation is easy to make, and in the winter you will enjoy delicious dishes. The texture of the vegetable does not change at all during freezing, the only drawback is that it does not become crispy.

  1. Cabbage can be frozen whole heads orseparate leaves. To do this, boil mid-sized cabbage in a little salted water for 5-7 minutes, then cool, tightly wrapped in food film and sent to a freezer. Do the same with the leaves, but do not boil them for more than 3-4 minutes. This cabbage is great for making cabbage rolls, it's enough to unfreeze the leaves, and they are very easy to remove from the head and do not break at all.
  2. The second way is to freeze the chopped cabbage. Simply chop the usual way, after seasoning to taste (you can add grated carrots), then spread out fairly densely portionwise on plastic bags and send it to the freezer. A great option for cooking soup, saltwort, second courses, rolls - the workpiece does not even need to be defrosted, just use it immediately when cooking.
  3. The third way is to prepare sauerkraut. Suitable for those who have nowhere to store vegetables in winter. Just spread out the packages or plastic dishes ready cabbage and freeze. When frozen, this vegetable completely retains all its useful properties and does not lose flavor.
